The issue was quickly resolved by on-site teams but the operator said passengers may face knock-on disruption as services returned to normal.

According to ScotRail’s journey tracker, there may be cancellations to services between Edinburgh to North Berwick until 10am, and services to and from Tweedbank may also be delayed and revised until mid-morning.

Rail replacement transport is not currently in place. Staff at ScotRail have urged anyone travelling to and from Edinburgh on these routes to check their journeys ahead of time.
