Burns Night 2026: Edinburgh brewery to offer free beers for 'gingers' over Burns weekend
The brewery is calling the capital’s redheads.
A brewery in Edinburgh is offering free drinks to people with ginger hair this weekend as Burns Night celebrations kick off in the capital.

Vault City, an Edinburgh-based brewery which produces modern sours and stouts, will be serving up free half pints at its taproom in Haymarket from Friday to Sunday.
Redheads will be able to choose from a Fiery Ginger or an Iron Brew Sour - the Portobello-based brewery’s take on Scotland’s iconic national drink.
The giveaway is just one of the hundreds of events taking place across the country this weekend to celebrate the legacy of Rabbie Burns.
Elsewhere in the capital, the National Museum of Scotland’s Big Burns Ceilidh is returning on Friday - while the city’s most haunted attraction The Real Mary King’s Close is inviting visitors for a spookier celebration of the iconic poet.
Vault City co-founder Steven Smith-Hay says: “We first launched our Iron Brew sour six years ago as a playful nod to a drink that is part of everyday Scottish life, and it has grown into one of the beers people most closely associate with Vault City.
“Burns Weekend always brings a great mix of locals and visitors through our doors, so this year we thought it was time to give something back. Redheads have been carrying the fizzy ginger brand on their backs for generations, so offering them a free beer felt like the least we could do.”
