A 28-year-old Falkirk man has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a 16-year-old cyclist by dangerous driving.

The Crown Office said Sami Jabbar, charged with causing death by dangerous driving, made no plea at Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday.

Teenager Harley Smith from Grangemouth was cycling on Polmont Road on November 6 last year when he was hit by a silver Mercedes.

He died at the scene.

Jabbar, of Falkirk, was bailed as the case was committed for further examination.
