Carstairs drugs stop: More than £100,000 worth of drugs recovered in Lanarkshire after police pull over ‘erratic’ driver
Police say they recovered a substantial amount of cannabis with an estimated street value of £108,000 during a patrol in Lanarkshire over the weekend.
Police officers reportedly made the discovery at around 8.05pm on Saturday, May 8, after stopping a grey Toyota Avensis which was driving in an “erratic manner” on the A721.
Officers pulled the car over at the Harelaw Roundabout, Carstairs, where they discovered drugs.
A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged, and he is expected to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court on Monday, May 10.
Inspector Steven Conn, of Lanarkshire Police Division, said: “I’d like to commend the good work of our officers who initially pulled the vehicle over as it was being driven in an erratic manner.
"Thanks to their good instincts and judgement, we’ve now removed a significant quantity of illegal drugs from the streets.”
If you have any information relating to drug misuse you are urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
