Asylum hotel protest organiser 'banned' from Falkirk streets

One of the organisers of the regular anti-asylum seeker protests outside the Cladhan Hotel says he has been banned from certain streets in Falkirk.

The protests have been taking place twice-weekly in the town’s Kemper Avenue since August.

They are organised by the protest group Save Our Future & Our Kids Future.

An additional protest was due to take place in Camelon Road tomorrow (Saturday) at 1.30pm outside The Park Hotel.

This is owned by Hannigan Hotels who also own the Cladhan which, since 2022, the Home Office has used to house asylum seekers while their applications are being processed.

But earlier today an article on the protest group’s Facebook page stated: “Following last Saturday’s protest (December 6), I’ve now been accused of two Section 38 breach of the peace charges. Because of this, strict conditions have been placed on me including being banned from entering several streets around the Cladhan Hotel and the wider Falkirk area, and being told I am not allowed to use a megaphone.”

The organiser goes on to say that he is banned from entering or seeking to enter Kemper Avenue, Arnott Street, Burnhead Lane, Fortuna Court, Finistere Avenue, Oswald Street, Elgin Place, East Bridge Street or Eastburn Drive.

They added: “Because of this situation, we will be cancelling the Park Hotel protest at 1.30pm this Saturday.”

A protest is still due to take place outside the Cladhan at 4pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged on Thursday, December 11, in connection with threatening and abusive behaviour following a protest on Kemper Avenue in Falkirk on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

“He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.”

Police had already confirmed that two other arrests were made following events in Falkirk last Saturday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with culpable and reckless conduct following a protest on Kemper Avenue in Falkirk on Saturday, December 6, 2025."

They added: “A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with threatening or abusive behaviour following a protest on Kemper Avenue in Falkirk on Saturday, December 6, 2025.”

Both men will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal “in due course” according to the police.
