Bank of Scotland, Lloyds and Halifax technical glitch as customers report seeing strangers' transactions
Lloyds Banking Group said it is looking into what happened.
Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers have reported seeing strangers’ transactions appearing on their accounts, which the banks said could be the result of a “technical glitch”.
Several customers took to X on Thursday morning to complain they could see other people’s payments and account details on their online banking.
Lloyds Banking Group, which encompasses Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, confirmed some customers were having problems with transactions and balances but said the issue was now resolved.
Some Scottish Bank of Scotland customers reported seeing transactions from people in Wales and Luton, in the south of England.
One customer replied to Bank of Scotland: “Serious problems with your mobile app today I am getting other peoples bank account spending appearing on my account and then disappearing!
“I can’t access your fraud service to inform anyone sort it out! I have taken pictures to prove it.”
She said she could see the strangers’ names as well as payments.

Another said: “So many transactions from someone in Wales.
“Names, dates, locations, amounts. I’ve screenshotted them as thought I’d had my card cloned.
“Serious data breaches!”
Customers with Lloyds and Halifax reported similar problems.
One Lloyds customer replied to the bank on X saying: “Are you aware of an issue with your online banking?
“When I log into my acc, I can see transactions that are not mine.
“When I go in the acc I can see other people’s bank account details payments.
“If I log out and back in, the details change to someone else.”
A Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson said: "We’re sorry that some customers experienced an issue viewing transactions in the app for a short time this morning.
“The issue was quickly resolved and we’re looking into what happened."
