The snowdrops are out, the leaves are budding on the trees and nature is awakening as the days get longer and temperatures warmer.
It’s the perfect time to get out and check out the amazing walks that Scotland has to offer.
And if you live in - or are visiting - Edinburgh, there’s no need to drive for hours to see some spectacular sights - some of the most photogenic treks are right on your doorstep.
Here are 10 in, or withing one hour, of the Scottish Capital.

9. Roslin Glen Country Park
Just a few miles to the south of Edinburgh is Roslin Glen Country Park, offering riverside treks through ancient woodland. You can combine a walk with a visit to the nearby Rosslyn Chapel, the mysterious spot made famout by Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. Photo: Canva/Getty Images

10. Moredun Wood
Part of Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park, Moredun Wood is a city oasis surrounded by a high wall that serves to keep traffic noise out and wildlife safe. These are two main entrances - one on the corner of Ellen's Glen Road and Gilmerton Road, and the other beside the Morrisons supermarket. Photo: Google Maps

11. Johnston Terrace Wildlife Reserve
Small, but perfectly-formed, the Johnston Terrace Wildlife Reserve is right in the middle of Edinburgh's Old Town, hidden down a lane in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. You'll feel like you're a million miles away from the busy city centre as you walk through woodland to a stunning wildflower meadow and panoramic views of the city. Photo: Google Maps

12. Lord Ancrum’s Wood
Named after one of the titles held by the Kerr family, who were Marquises of Lothian and former owners of the wood on the banks of the River Esk in Midlothian, Lord Ancrum's Wood has miles of tree-lined walks to enjoy. Also, look out for the cavern known as 'the priest hole' which may have been used as a Covenanters' hiding place. Photo: Google Maps
