One thing Scotland is blessed with is coastline - including islands, we have nearly 19,000 km of it to enjoy.
From castles perched atop clifftops and bustling colonies of seabirds, to perfect white sand beaches and wondrous rock formations, the Scottish coastline has it all.
And it’s pretty accessible to most of the population, with the farthest point from the sea being just 67km (that’s Glen Quoich, near Braemar, for fact fans).
For those who want to walk it there are hundreds of miles of well-maintained coastal paths to enjoy.
Here are 10 of our favourite stretches.

5. Dunnet Head
This 17km Dunnet Head coastal route in Caithness is not for the faint-hearted as much of it is close to vertical cliffs dropping down to the sea. It takes in the Dunnet Head Lighthouse, which is the northmost point of mainland Britain (not John o'Groats), and the pretty Loch of Bushta. Photo: Canva

6. Plockton to Duncraig
This 6.5km circular route takes you from Plockton, one of the Highlands' prettiest villages, around the peninsula it sits on, via the Victorian Duncraig Castle and views of mountains, islets and Loch Carron. Photo: Canva

7. Maidens to Dunure
This 11km stretch of the Ayrshire Coastal Route takes you between the harbours of Maidens and Dunure via the amazing 18th century Culzean Castle. There are also sandy beaches, lush farmland and sections of woodland. Photo: Canva

8. Prestonpans to North Berwick
This section of the John Muir Way, named after the Scotsman who founded the National Park movement, runs from Prestonpans to the resort town of North Berwick. The hefty 26km distance takes around 5 hours to complete and takes in the long beach of Seton Sands the picturesque village of Aberlady, Dirleton Castle and Yellowcraig Beach. Photo: Canva
