Big is beautiful in Royal Deeside

Muir Homes have just unveiled one of the largest show homes on the market, the six bedroom Braemar house type at their development, Blairs, on Royal Deeside. The interior design showcases the luxurious lifestyle on offer here - after all, there can’t be many new show homes with a grand piano included in amongst the furniture.

Built on the banks of the River Dee, Blairs Royal Deeside is a small community set within beautiful surroundings just a few miles out of Aberdeen. On the doorstep are the walkways that meander around the Blairs Estate and the river bank - it is a lovely location, and handy for commuters.

Not all the homes being built here are of the scale of the Braemar however; the smallest on site are three bedroom semi detached villas, but there is a good choice of larger family homes too, most of them detached, with four, five and six bedrooms.

The Braemar showhome is the largest house type available here and it illustrates brilliantly what a top end budget will purchase.

The interior design is impressive. There is real attention to detail in the form of design led fabrics and wallcoverings as well as some statement pieces of handmade furniture.

Rosemary Livingstone, Sales and Marketing Manager for Muir Homes says: ”We have ensured a really opulent look with hand finished curtains and even a baby grand piano in the drawing room.”

She points out that it is, in essence, a family home: “It has an abundance of space, and as such the showhome decor has been designed to appeal to this market. As ever, the design professionals we work with at Muir have ensured that the look of the showhome is contemporary and glamorous but also very practical. But with its neutral colourway, anyone buying the property later on can easily make their own mark”.

They may well take inspiration from the show home however. The entrance hall for instance, is something of a showstopper - with a muted damask wallpaper and a statement copper table taking centre stage. The stunning chandelier over the stairwell is framed by a sumptuous pair of Osborne and Little goblet headed curtains which hang at the stair window.

As an opening statement, it is designed to impress, but the formality and luxury is carried through into the drawing room.

Here, as well as the black baby grand piano there are two large contemporary styled sofas and a Venetian glass coffee table. Ivory through to taupe are hot trend colours, accessorised with hints of metal and an antique mirror, James Hare Silk curtains and modern side chairs upholstered in a Jane Churchill velvet and metallic fabric.

The dining room has a beautiful dark wood table which seats eight, while the study has a masculine feel with an Andrew Martin bookcase wallpaper on one wall and ebony desk.

The open plan kitchen and family room has a more informal, relaxed feel to it with space for two sofas, a dining table and chairs as well as the space for cooking.

Upstairs, viewers will find the sumptuous master bedroom with its en-suite and dressing area. The five other bedrooms give viewers a real choice of looks and should provide inspiration. Bedroom six is presented as a games room with a snooker table.

Properties at Blairs are priced from £540,000 to £855,000. For more information call t01224 868 570.
