From the central belt to Speyside and beyond, we take a look at the best whisky bars from around Scotland, just in time for World Whisky Day on 18 May.
The last few years have seen a dramatic rise in, not only the popularity of whisky, but the number of distilleries opening or re-opening. With this in mind, we take a look as some of the best bars to enjoy a dram of two, whether it's an old favourite or a new name.
Based in the heart of one of the biggest whisky producing regions, (or the epicentre of the whisky universe, if you go by the rather dramatic tagline on the Inns website) The Highlander Inn is more of an institution than a bar.
With over 700 malts, The Quaich Bar is a whisky lovers dream. For food and a dram, head to the Copper Dog pub.
Constructed in 1896, the Mash Tun has an impressive range of Glenfarclas bottling - a unique collection of 47 single cask whiskies, with one for each consecutive year from 1952 to 1998.
Another of Speysides famous whisky hotels, The Dowans is located close to Aberlour Distillery and the river Spey. The excellent Still room offers an expertly curated selection of over 500 whiskies from Speyside and beyond.
Located close to famous distilleries Balblair, Glenmorangie and Dalmore, the Dornoch Hotel is home to a range of old and rare whiskies and now a micro-distillery.
Offering their Top Ten Desert Island Drams list, a famous whisky library which includes nearly all the named Scottish single malts and tastings and flights, there's something for all whisky fans.
With over 365 whiskies and hugely knowledgeable staff, the whisky bar at The Torridon was even once named the Best Whisky Bar in the World by Whisky magazine.
The Grill is one of the oldest bars in Aberdeen, and it boasts nearly 600 whiskies on the gantry making it a must-visit for whisky fans.
This dedicated craft beer and whisky bar has over 500 whiskies with a focus on single casks an off sales and even a walk-in humidor specialising in Cuban cigars.
Feeling like a bit like Smugglers Den, The Cave Bar has nearly 120 whiskies behind the bar. It is also home to one of the largest collections of Glen Garioch whisky in the country.
