The Gin Cooperative Awards, now in its second year, saw entries from new and established producers whose gins were assessed and judged by a judging panel of 72 judges from industry, community and consumer, with each entry judged by nine judges.

Unique to The Gin Cooperative Awards, each entry was judged neat and as a gin and tonic.

The big winners from the awards included Leith based Electric Spirit Co., who picked up four awards for their Achroous Gin, including Gold Scottish Gin of the Year, Gold London Dry Scottish Gin, Gold Consumer Judges Award and Silver Scottish Gin and Tonic.

James Porteous, founder of Electric Spirit Co. said "These results are beyond anything we could have hoped for when we entered the awards.

"We've been making Achroous for eight years, so to not only pick up a stack of gold and silver medals, but also to be named as the best gin in Scotland, is a real testament to the quality and longevity of our recipe.

"The consumer award is especially satisfying - at the end of the day, our main goal is to make a spirit that gin drinkers will love. This is a wonderful validation of everything we aim for as a business.”

Their Inverness Gin picked up three awards including Gold for New Scottish Gin and Gold for Scottish Gin and Tonic, scoring the highest out of all entries for the gin and tonic score along with a Silver for the Consumer Judges Award. Their Great Glen Pink Gin picked up a Bronze for Flavoured Scottish Gin.
