26/05/15 SILVERBURN SHOPPING CENTRE - GLASGOW Kayley Leckie (aged 4) got involved as Silverburn kicked off its three day programme of activities in spectacular style with its very own Wheel of Fortune-inspired gameshow in celebration of the completion of its new £20million leisure extension today

The new positions have been created thanks to the opening of three new restaurants, a tea bar and Smiggle, a stationery brand for kids, and span everything from burger makers to tea dispensers. The jobs are currently being advertised on the Silverburn website.

David Pierotti, General Manager at Silverburn said, "Since opening in 2007, we're proud to have created more than 2000 job opportunities here in Pollok and these additional 55 jobs are a reflection of the continued growth throughout the centre and more importantly the area."

He added: "We're thrilled to welcome such a broad range of new retailers including Bella Italia, Tortilla and Tempo Tea Bar – and to see Handmade Burger reopen after it's significant facelift. There's a real buzz in Silverburn at the moment; we're fully let and have an exciting programme of events planned in the run up to summer."

The one million square foot destination recently celebrated the completion of its £20 million extension – including a state of the art Cineworld boasting Scotland's only Superscreen and 11 new restaurants, with the latest job opportunities bringing Silverburn's employee head count well past the 2000 mark.

The recent developments in the centre see Handmade Burger reopen with a new look restaurant over two floors after an extensive refurbishment, a brand new Tempo Tea Bar offering a selection of their famous bubble teas, Bella Italia treating shoppers to authentic Italian cooking and Tortilla, due to open in June, will serve up a mouth watering selection of fresh tacos and deep filled burritos.

Shoppers will also have the chance to indulge their kids in Scotland's first Smiggle, Australia's best-known children's stationary brand.

John Cheston, Managing Director of Smiggle, said: “Silverburn was our first choice when we were looking at sites in Scotland and we are delighted to be amongst very good company of strong retail brands."
