Bruce Jack Wines was recently named in this year's World’s Top Admired Wine Brands by Drinks International, for the third year running and is one of two South African producers in the top 20.

While based in South Africa, Bruce's parents lived in Scotland and he went to university in Edinburgh, which is where he has taken inspiration for his wine making as he employs a pipe major to play the bagpipes to the barrels while the wine is fermenting.

The latest event from Wine Events Scotland brings Bruce Jack Wines a little closer to home as the focus will be on his wines from Spain.

The tasting, taking place on Thursday 21 April, includes five wines and will see Bruce and his Spanish master of wine, Ed Adams, talk guests through each.

The wines are:

  • La Bascula Catalan Eagle Organic White, DO Terra Alta (Garnacha Bianca, Viognier, Roussanne)
  • La Bascula Atlantic Way Albarino, DO Rías Baixas
  • Bruce Jack Wines Navarra Rosé, DO Navarra
  • Bruce Jack Wines Rioja Reserva DOCa Rioja
  • La Bascula 3×3 Old Vine Garnacha Carinena DO Terra Alta

Speaking of this tasting, Diana Thomson owner of Wine Events Scotland said: "For our April Winemaker Series, we’ll be off to Spain to see what the hugely charismatic and pioneer Bruce Jack from South Africa is up to in the country which has more land devoted to vines than any other.

"Bruce Jack Wines has been named one of the Worlds Most Admired Wine Brands. This is not due to the size of the company, how popular Bruce is within the trade nor the price and great value of the wines but largely due to Bruce Jack’s values. Although his home is in South Africa, Bruce also makes wine in Spain and in Chile."
