Scotland's best spas: 5 stunning Scottish spas named finalists in the 2025 Good Spa Guide Awards
From Aberdeen to Dumfries - these are the best spas in Scotland to visit this year.
As autumn turns to winter, temperatures drop, and the dark nights roll in quicker each day, a little self-indulgence at this time of year doesn’t go amiss.
That makes it the perfect time for the Good Spa Guide to drop their list of finalists for the best spa in Scotland award, with five beautiful escapes making the shortlist.
The chosen finalists have been selected following rigorous Good Spa Guide Bubble Rating assessments, which judges spas on cleanliness and tidiness, customer service, standard of facilities, and, of course, the treatments.
Spas are rated from Three Bubbles, described as “nice” and offering good-value treatments, to Five Bubble Luxury, described as “seriously special” with “spectacular facilities” and treatments.
Here are the spas which made the top five in Scotland.
Cairndale Spa, Dumfries

This stunning spa in a friendly, family-run hotel is one of the newest destination spas in Scotland and won a Five Star Bubble Luxury Award earlier this year.
The focal point of the two-storey spa is the large thermal pool, with its jets water blades and airbeds surrounded by a variety of seating. Guests can enjoy the steam rooms, saunas, Double Hammam, and Rasul, a sensual spa experience using Dead Sea muds. It also has a juice bar serving pool-side refreshments.
Its six treatment rooms offer everything from crystal therapies to collagen boosts.
The guide said: “We awarded Cairndale Spa our highest Good Spa Guide Bubble Rating of 5 Bubble Luxury for its beautiful design and attention to detail; great choice of thermals; super friendly spa staff; and inventive, thoughtful treatments.
“Cairndale really has raised the bar for Scottish spas.”
Devona Spa at Hilton Aberdeen TECA
The Devona Spa at Hilton Aberdeen TECA is an award-winning spa, featuring a 20 metre indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room, as well as bespoke heated beds and loungers on poolside.
Its new Wellness Lounge is described as a “serene space dedicated to stillness” where an innovative bed encourages calmness through sound frequencies and vibrations. The guide described the experience as a “deeply meditative experience which allows the nervous system to reset, leaving you centred, grounded and renewed,”.
Its menu of treatments come courtesy of Germaine de Capuccini - a prestigious Spanish skincare brand known for its advanced formulations. Guests can also enjoy the well kitted-out fitness centre.
Fairmont St Andrews

Fairmont St Andrews is a 520-acre coastal resort with dramatic cliff-top views of the North Sea. It offers extensive golf, leisure, and spa facilities just a short drive from the town.
The ground flour spa consists of a 16 metre pool with loungers, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, and treatments include locally-themed massages, facial and relaxation therapies, from spa brands Ishga and ESPA .
It also has a fully equipped gym, with cardio machines and classes including Pilates, spinning and boxercise.
One Spa at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Edinburgh

One Spa is part of the five-star Sheraton Grand Hotel with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. The spa is spread over five floors with the stairs and lift in the centre, and features a stunning rooftop hydropool and 19-metre swimming pool.
Its thermal suite offers a hammam, bio sauna and “aroma grotto”. Treatments include ESPA Inner Beauty facials, hot stone massages, and nourishing body treatments.
The guide said: “We awarded One Spa at The Sheraton Grand Hotel a Bubble Rating of Five Bubble Luxury Rating for its superb city location, fantastic selection of heat facilities, professional yet friendly staff and imaginative treatments.”
The Spa at Gleneagles, Perthshire

This five-star hotel is no stranger to awards, with its impeccable food and hospitality. According to the Guide, its spa lives up to all expectations, describing it as “sublime”.
Guests are spoilt for choice with a beautifully-lit pool, outdoor thermal pool, crystal steam room, hot sauna cabin, ice fountains and aromatic showers, and a botanical Spa Wellness Courtyard decked out with plants, statement chandeliers, artwork and seating perfect for chilling.
It is the only spa in Scotland to offer Tata Harper treatments and the first in the UK to use Dr Barbara Sturm’s high-tech skincare collection. The spa also has its own range of Gleneagles balms, oils and scrubs made with herbs and plants all found on the Perthshire estate.
