Law Castle, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Ayrshire coast, is a rare example of a fully restored medieval tower house.
Steeped in royal history and architectural significance, it was commissioned in 1467 as a wedding gift for Princess Mary Stuart, daughter of King James II of Scotland who for historical context was a direct descendant of Robert The Bruce.
Law Castle remained a prominent landmark for hundreds of years before sadly falling into disrepair in the 19th century. By the early 20th century, the structure was roofless and largely abandoned. In the late 20th century, however, its fortunes turned around when a private restoration project began, culminating in a meticulous and sympathetic refurbishment completed in 2005.
The restoration has preserved its authentic period features - including the spiral stone staircase, vaulted chambers, a drawbridge for a bed, and a caphouse lookout - while seamlessly integrating modern comforts. The result is a residence of exceptional character, making this an extremely rare opportunity to own, "feel", and be a part of a truly authentic piece of Scotland’s noble past.
Law Castle is for sale for offers over £1m, more details are available via Savills.
