Fans have been given their first look at Scots actor Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter.

The first official look at the Harry Potter television series has been released, hinting at what HBO’s reboot has in store for audiences.

Shared on Instagram yesterday (March 24), the image shows young Harry walking towards the Hogwarts quidditch pitch wearing a red and gold cloak which bears his surname and player number, holding his broom in his right hand.

Lanarkshire actor Dominic McLaughlin takes over the role from Daniel Radcliffe, who found fame as the boy wizard in the film series.

He can be seen walking behind a large group of students as he makes his way towards the field, with the quidditch stands displaying large Gryffindor and Hufflepuff flags. There is also a cheeky flag in the top left of the picture, referencing Fred and George Weasley.

So far, this image is the first glimpse fans have gotten into the Wizarding World of the HBO series. Previous pictures of cast members have all been behind the scenes snaps, such as McLaughlin alongside Arabella Stanton, who plays Hermione, and Alastair Stout who takes over as Ron.
