Vertu selects Scottish city to open first dealership for fast-growing Chinese car brand
“The launch of our first Geely Auto dealership is a major moment” – Robert Forrester, Vertu CEO
Car dealership giant Vertu has hailed an “exciting new relationship” after officially opening its first Geely Auto showroom, in Glasgow.
Located on Kennishead Road in the Darnley area of the city, the Vertu Geely Glasgow South dealership is now open for business, with redevelopment of the site ongoing as part of Chinese brand Geely Auto’s push into Scotland.
Geely launched in the UK in late 2025, initially with the all-electric Geely EX5 - a five-seat family SUV that offers up to 267 miles of range. The opening of the Glasgow dealership follows closely after the arrival of the Starray EM-i Super Hybrid, as the second model offered to UK customers.

Both these new Geely models have been refined for the UK market following an extensive testing programme that includes input from chassis engineers at Lotus - also part of Geely Holding Group.
Nine jobs have already been created with the opening of Vertu Geely Glasgow South and a number of further vacancies are to be filled in the coming months.
Chris McKenzie, regional director at Vertu Motors, said: “We are delighted to bring a new manufacturer to Glasgow, and to have the honour of opening Vertu’s first Geely Auto dealership in the city.
“It gives us the opportunity to introduce our customers to some innovative new models, and with plenty more to come as Geely Auto grows in the UK. This is a hugely exciting time for everyone at the dealership.”
Robert Forrester, chief executive at Vertu Motors, which has 192 sales outlets across the UK, said: “The launch of our first Geely Auto dealership is a major moment, and marks an exciting new chapter in our relationship with Geely Holding Group.
“Geely Auto has a strong, global reputation for producing innovative and affordable electric vehicles, and we are confident that the ever-expanding model line-up will prove to be popular with our customers. We look forward to a long and successful relationship representing the Geely Auto brand.”
Adam Harkin, dealer development director at Geely Auto UK, added: “Working with a trusted partner like Vertu enables customers in Glasgow and beyond to experience Geely Auto first-hand, as we continue to build a national network.”
