Top UK accountancy group to create 200 jobs with push into Scotland
“Businesses want senior access, transparency and a partner that supports rather than absorbs them” – Steven Fraser
One of the UK’s fastest-growing accountancy and advisory firms has secured a series of new contracts north of the Border as it looks to build a Scottish business with a 200-strong headcount.
AMS Accountants Group, which is headquartered in Manchester, said it was committed to building a £20 million Scottish operation. More than £200,000 of work has already been secured in the opening weeks of its concerted push into Scotland.
Two senior appointments have been made to lead the Scottish growth, with Steven Fraser appointed managing partner (Scotland), while Wendy Atkinson joins as director of growth and partnerships (Scotland).

The expansion is being backed by new investment from Macquarie Capital, enabling the group to “scale rapidly, create jobs, invest in regional talent and technology, and offer a more flexible, people-first alternative to traditional consolidators”.
Fraser said: “Businesses want senior access, transparency and a partner that supports rather than absorbs them. That’s where AMS stands apart.
“And at a time when there’s uncertainty around investment, we’re committing to building a £20m Scottish business - creating around 200 jobs and backing the region’s potential.”
Fraser brings more than 20 years’ experience in the accountancy and advisory sector, including as managing partner at AAB.

Atkinson, who brings business development and client engagement experience from senior roles at Hunter Adams, Mattioli Woods and Clydesdale Bank, said: “AMS has a powerful story - a family business with a culture that genuinely runs through every team. That strength gives you real confidence when you go out to win work.
“When you have that foundation, you can build a practice that reflects the needs of Scottish clients rather than a one-size-fits-all model. That’s where the real opportunity lies.”
Both directors are currently based in Aberdeen, with further recruitment planned in the Granite City, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Headquartered in Manchester, AMS has grown into a multi-disciplinary professional services group offering audit, tax, accounting, corporate finance, business recovery and legal services. The firm has specialist strengths across energy, industrials, technology, property and healthcare. Its £10m-plus medical division, supporting more than 1,500 healthcare clients, is among the specialisms the group plans to replicate in Scotland.
