Surging demand sees Scots sustainable energy specialist double up with new HQ
“The move is an exciting development for us and affords us room to grow further.”
An East Lothian-based sustainable energy specialist has expanded into new headquarters as it looks to keep pace with growing demand.
Gensource’s new base at Newhailes Business Centre, Musselburgh extends to more than 1,200 square feet and is more than double the size of its original home in the town.
Bosses said the move followed three years of sustained growth for the business, which specialises in sustainable energy services, covering everything from consultancy and design to construction, operation and maintenance.

The new head office positions the company for expansion as it looks to build on the solid foundations built by co-founders Josh King and Robert Wilson since setting up in December 2022.
Staffing levels currently sit around the 20 mark, with plans in place to add to that number in the coming 12 months as the firm services a growing client base throughout Scotland.
Wilson, Gensource’s commercial and operations director, said: “The move is an exciting development for us and affords us more space and room to grow further.
“We have set ambitious targets since starting out and have successfully delivered against them. Our bigger headquarters gives us the flexibility to keep expanding and continue that trend.”
Clients include the Eastern Western Motor Group, the City of Edinburgh Council and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).
Wilson added: “The nature of the commercial contracts we are winning is very encouraging and is a big endorsement of the work everyone at Gensource is doing. The challenge of rising energy costs combined with trying to reduce carbon is very real for businesses.”
