Scottish legal heavyweight with 60 partners unveils senior promotions
“These promotions reflect the consistent demand we are seeing across a number of areas of the firm” – Carole Tomlinson, chair
Legal firm Anderson Strathern has outlined a series of senior promotions across its Edinburgh, Glasgow and Orkney offices as it looks to meet demand across key core practice areas.
Four lawyers have been promoted to director and partner level, following a “period of sustained activity” for the firm, particularly in rural and estates, private client and commercial property.
Edinburgh-headquartered Anderson Strathern has around 60 partners,193 fee earners and 142 support staff.

The latest promotions see Orkney-based Ellen Eunson made a partner in the firm’s rural land and business team. With 25 years’ experience, she advises landowners, farmers and rural businesses on sales and acquisitions, agricultural tenancies and succession planning, as well as crofting and renewable energy projects.
Nick Dobbs becomes a director, private client, in Edinburgh. He is said to have significant experience advising high-net-worth clients including prominent landowners and business owners, on a variety of tax and succession planning matters.
Rory Knox is made a director, commercial real estate, Glasgow. He advises investors, developers, retailers and public sector bodies on disposals and acquisitions, commercial leasing and portfolio management.
Conor Whittaker has also been promoted to director in the commercial real estate team, based in Glasgow. He is also part of the firm’s dedicated land and buildings transaction advisory group and has advised many of the firm’s clients on this complex area.
Carole Tomlinson, chair at Anderson Strathern, said: “Congratulations to Ellen, Nick, Rory and Conor on their promotions. They have each made a strong contribution to the firm and to their clients.
“These promotions reflect the consistent demand we are seeing across a number of areas of the firm and the importance we place on continually developing our people. They also ensure we are well placed to support clients across Scotland - from the Northern Isles to the Borders.”
