Scottish law firm with 49 partners posts double-digit profit growth
“These results represent another excellent year for the firm” – Grant Hunter, managing partner
BTO Solicitors, the legal firm with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Helensburgh, has reported another year of strong growth and continued investment.
The firm, which has a headcount of more than 230 including 49 partners, recorded turnover of £23.1 million for the year to the end of March, an increase of 9 per cent on the previous financial year. Profit before members’ remuneration and profit shares increased by 11.1 per cent, year on year, to £7.9m.
The firm said cash generated from operations continued to strengthen and the practice “substantially” reduced its external borrowings during the year.

Managing partner Grant Hunter said: “These results represent another excellent year for the firm and reflect the quality of our people, the strength of our client relationships and the benefits of the investments we have made across the business.
“Despite continuing economic uncertainty, we delivered growth in revenue, profitability and cash generation while maintaining our focus on providing an outstanding service to clients. We also continued to invest significantly in our people, technology and operational infrastructure, including the development of AI-enabled solutions and other strategic initiatives designed to support the long-term success of the firm.
“Our strong financial position allows us to continue investing with confidence in the future, attracting talented individuals to the partnership and enhancing the services we provide to clients across Scotland and beyond.”
He added: “We have entered the 2026/27 financial year with a sound balance sheet, a strong partnership and a continued focus on sustainable, profitable growth in line with our strategic business plan.”
BTO Solicitors is the latest Scottish law firm to release its full-year results, though the reporting periods vary.
Earlier this month, Morton Fraser MacRoberts (MFMac) said it had paid a firm-wide bonus equivalent to 6 per cent of salary after reporting strong revenue and profit growth.
The firm’s latest turnover figure of £49m means it delivered in 11 months almost as much as it had in the 12 months previously, with its annualised revenue performance up by 9 per cent. MFMac shortened its annual accounting period by one month this year.
