Scottish family-friendly holiday park to reopen in Easter after record £4m upgrade
“The investment will ensure that Thurston Manor becomes one of Scotland’s most sought-after holiday destinations” – Simon Lane, Verdant Parks CEO
A popular East Lothian holiday park is set for a £4 million transformation including the addition of an 18-metre swimming pool, sports bar and ice cream parlour.
Verdant Parks said the investment into Thurston Manor Holiday Park at Dunbar was the largest single investment in the company’s history. Bosses said the redevelopment would “cement the holiday park’s position as one of Scotland’s must-visit holiday destinations”.
The park is set to have a “greater family-friendly activity offering” and be able to welcome more guests with more accommodation and ownership opportunities. Work will commence in early November with completion set for Easter 2027.

The plans include the installation of an 18-metre swimming pool with new children’s splash pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, as well as upgraded gym facilities. The park will also see the arrival of a “social hub and activities complex”, which in addition to its recently revamped playground and multi-use sports court, will include a new soft play area plus an upgraded arcade.
There will be a new sports bar and restaurant plus a newly transformed show bar. Thurston Manor is also set to gain new “interactive outdoor activities” including a nine-hole pirate-themed adventure golf course, giant chess, table tennis plus the addition of a covered padel court.
Simon Lane, chief executive of Verdant Parks, said: “This is an exciting time for Verdant Parks, our employees, our owners and our holidaymakers. We’re pleased to be committing our biggest investment to date into Thurston Manor Holiday Park to see it become a flagship destination in our park portfolio, offering an enhanced experience with lots to see, do and enjoy.
“The investment will ensure that Thurston Manor becomes one of Scotland’s most sought-after holiday destinations, providing a fantastic new offering with so much to be enjoyed by our holidaymakers and owners. The investment will also provide an economic boost to the country’s tourism industry, as well as providing recreational activities and spaces for the local community to also use and enjoy.”
He said more details and “sneak peeks” would be released over the next six months as work progresses.
