Legal firm opens fifth office as part of Scottish growth plans
“It’s about making our legal services more accessible to people and businesses across Midlothian” – Shawn Wood
Legal and estate agency business Watermans has opened a fifth office as it continues to strengthen its presence in the east of Scotland.
The push into Bonnyrigg marks the second expansion this year for the firm following the opening of its Dunfermline office in March.
The latest move will see local property expert Neil Reid join the firm as a consultant valuer, and will allow the team to continue to build momentum across Midlothian, Edinburgh, Fife and beyond. Watermans also has operations in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Scott Whyte, managing director at Watermans, said: “Opening our fifth Watermans office, in Bonnyrigg, is part of our long-term plans for the business and allows us to provide a base closer to home for both current and future clients in Midlothian.
“The move will also see us add Neil Reid to our estate agency team. Additionally, the new office will allow some of our team to be based closer to home. Providing that adjustment to the work-life balance has been something we are keen to deliver for our hard-working team.”
Reid said: “Having lived in Bonnyrigg for over three decades and operated in the property sector here for the last 15 years, I am delighted to be able to join Watermans in delivering our shared goal of providing straightforward legal advice and estate agency to the local area.
“Watermans has been a firm that I have always found to be proactive and straightforward to deal with for legal and property transactions throughout the course of my career, and this partnership is the natural next step in our relationship.
“Although the Watermans name is a relatively new name in the community, the wider team behind this office are all local and highly experienced in the services on offer.”
Shawn Wood, director and head of conveyancing at Watermans, will oversee the legal side of property transactions provided from the site.
He said: “For us, it’s about making our legal services more accessible to people and businesses across Midlothian and giving clients the opportunity to deal with a local team, rather than having to travel elsewhere for advice.”
