‘Leading’ Edinburgh shopping centre to see four new openings this autumn as footfall jumps

“These four lettings are important deals for the Gyle, which is seeing significant success” – Stuart Moncur, Savills

Four new occupants have been confirmed at the Gyle Shopping Centre to the west of Edinburgh.

Fast-growing Danish retailer Søstrene Grene has taken the former Gap unit in the centre, extending to some 4,750 square feet. At the same end of the mall, Black Sheep Coffee will occupy a 2,335 sq ft unit, and will additionally benefit from external seating.

Meanwhile, Rituals has taken a 2,309 sq ft unit, with an additional 1,163 sq ft mezzanine, while jewellery brand Nomination has agreed to take a smaller 464 sq ft unit.

Property consultancy Savills advised centre owner and asset manager NewRiver REIT on the four new lettings.

The latest occupiers join existing brands that have moved to the Gyle in the past year including The Entertainer, Grapetree and Lovisa. Boots, Starbucks and Pandora are among other brands to have renewed their leases.

Savills noted that footfall at the centre has increased consistently year on year, with 2025 up 4 per cent on 2024, and so far 2026 footfall is up 3.8 per cent on last year.

Sophie Shannon, director at NewRiver, said: “We are delighted to welcome Søstrene Grene to the Gyle, alongside Black Sheep Coffee, Rituals and Nomination, further strengthening the centre’s offer and building on the significant leasing momentum we have delivered as part of our business plan.

“With new brands joining an already strong line-up, increasing footfall and continued commitment from existing occupiers, the Gyle is very much reinforcing its position as one of Edinburgh’s leading retail destinations.”

Stuart Moncur, head of national retail at Savills, added: “These four lettings are important deals for the Gyle, which is seeing significant success. Footfall is increasing and the centre continues to attract high-quality brands, both as new occupiers and existing tenants choosing to extend their leases. We’re looking forward to seeing these new stores open in the autumn.”
