Housebuilder starts work on 3,000 Scottish homes after £350m boost to economy
“Scotland continues to face a significant housing challenge” – Alison Condie, regional MD for Barratt Redrow in Scotland
Housebuilder Barratt Redrow said it had delivered a near-£350 million boost to Scotland’s economy after bringing more than 1,500 new homes to market.
The group, which operates under the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes banners north of the Border, also said it directly and indirectly supported around 5,000 jobs nationwide.
The company’s latest socio-economic report shows that Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes injected £342.7m into the Scottish economy during the year ending June 29, 2025. In total 1,544 new homes were brought to market during the period, including 246 properties classed as affordable homes.

The group said its two brands continue to create “high quality communities in some of Scotland’s most scenic and popular locations”, including St Andrews, the Cammo Estate in Edinburgh, Aberdeenshire and Moray. This year, the homebuilders will begin construction on 3,000 homes at Durieshill, just outside Stirling, marking one of the largest delivery of homes in recent times.
Alison Condie, regional managing director for Barratt Redrow in Scotland, said: “At Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes our purpose is to create strong communities where sustainable living is a reality for everyone. In 2025, we continued to deliver against this commitment, making a meaningful contribution to the Scottish economy, local communities and businesses.
“Scotland continues to face a significant housing challenge. While we are proud of the difference we have made in delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes so far, we recognise that there is still much more to do to ensure everyone can access housing that meets the needs of modern living.”
She added: “Looking ahead, 2026 will be a landmark year for Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes as we begin construction on significant developments like Durieshill outside of Stirling and Lingerwood in Dalkeith. Across all our projects, our commitment to people, places and nature will remain at the heart of everything we do.”
Other key findings in the report show that Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes spent £287.1m with 578 sub-contractor companies and 601 supplier businesses. Some £114m of land was approved for future investment.
