Edinburgh civil engineering consultancy enters ‘exciting next chapter’ after takeover

“This is a major opportunity for our team and our clients” – Mark Fisher, director, Quattro Consult

Civic, the built environment specialist, has acquired Quattro Consult, an Edinburgh-based structural and civil engineering consultancy, marking its third takeover deal since 2024.

The latest acquisition supports Civic’s continued expansion in Scotland and brings a team of 15 engineers and technicians into the business.

Founded in 2009, Quattro Consult - incorporating Stuart McTaggart - has been delivering engineering consultancy services across residential, hotels, industrial and logistics, and the heritage sectors for clients including Artisan, GSS Developments and Buccleuch Property.

Mark Fisher, director of Quattro Consult, said: “Civic is a natural cultural fit for us and provides the scale and specialist breadth needed in today’s evolving market. This is a major opportunity for our team and our clients, opening new pathways for career development and collaborative, design‑led engineering.

“Quattro has always been a client‑focused engineering consultancy, and our staff are fundamental to our success. Joining Civic allows us to build on that foundation, access a wider client base and work within a consultancy known for its innovative, complementary services. We see this as an exciting next chapter for our people and our long‑standing clients.”

Stephen O’Malley, chief executive of Civic, said: “Mark and the team at Quattro bring a huge amount of established engineering expertise, knowledge and skill, and they are highly respected by their clients. Their long‑standing relationships and strong pipeline complement Civic’s ethos and strengthen our collective ability to deliver positive impact across the built environment.

“This acquisition enables us to combine our respective strengths, expand our geographic reach and range, and reinforce Civic’s commitment to Scotland with a stronger footprint in Edinburgh.”

The Quattro team will integrate fully into Civic from March 1, following a short transition period.

Isla Jackson, Scotland director at Civic, added: “Quattro brings deep local knowledge, longstanding client relationships and a highly respected engineering team, all of which meaningfully strengthen our Scottish operations. The team’s arrival is a strategic step forward for Civic in Scotland, enhancing our ability to support clients with joined‑up, design‑led thinking across a broader range of projects and sectors.”
