Celebrating the Highlands & Islands Apprenticeship Champions
Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2026 - running from 2nd to 6th March - highlights the importance of skills, opportunities and career progression.
This makes it the perfect time to highlight the Highlands & Islands Apprenticeship Awards, organised by The Scotsman.

Following the success of the inaugural Highlands & Islands Apprenticeship Awards in 2025, recognising the people powering the region’s skills pipeline, the event returns this year. It is designed to shine a light on the people driving positive change across the region’s apprenticeship community. The event rewards apprentices, employers and training providers who are shaping the workforce of tomorrow.
The 14 award categories recognise individuals and organisations, including businesses and training providers, that demonstrate excellence, commitment and impact when it comes to apprenticeships.
Dr Georgina Parker, Vice Principal at UHI Inverness, said: “We were delighted that our Business Solutions Team won Training Provider of the Year in the first Highlands and Islands Apprenticeship Awards in 2025 and we’re proud to be the Trophy Sponsor this year.
“These prestigious awards celebrate the vital contribution that employers and their apprentices make towards building a skilled workforce, enabling the Highlands and Islands’ economy and communities to thrive.”
Entries for this year are being encouraged from across the region. Nominations are open to apprentices, employers, colleges and training providers. Dedicated categories also recognise employers and mentors, allowing businesses to nominate teams and individuals who go above and beyond to support apprentice development.
Winners will be revealed at a prestigious live awards ceremony on Thursday 26th November at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness, bringing together the apprenticeship community for an evening of celebration, networking and recognition.
Entries must be submitted online via www.hiapprenticeshipawards.co.uk
