Anderson Strathern Asset Management names new MD at time of ‘significant change’
“This is set to be another challenging year for many individuals who are anxious to know how to plan and protect the futures of themselves and their families” – Arlene Ewing, MD
Anderson Strathern Asset Management has named a new managing director as it looks to ramp up its offering in Scotland.
Arlene Ewing brings more than 35 years’ experience in financial services and is a recognised leader in her field as both a former Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) president for Scotland and CISI Mentor of the Year 2025.
Her appointment brings the team at Anderson Strathern Asset Management (ASAM) up to 21 including financial advisers, fund managers and support staff working with clients across the country.

The firm, an offshoot of long-established Edinburgh legal firm Anderson Strathern, said Ewing’s appointment came at a time of “significant change” in the wealth management sector with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and investment technologies coupled with sweeping changes to laws affecting estate planning.
She will oversee ASAM’s dual-led model combining financial planning and discretionary fund management.
The new MD said a rising trend for sector consolidation was leaving many people feeling underserved by large firms and clients are now looking for a more bespoke offering.
“It is an exciting time to join Anderson Strathern Asset Management,” she said. “This is set to be another challenging year for many individuals who are anxious to know how to plan and protect the futures of themselves and their families.
“Like many sectors, the rapid development of modern technology means we have impressive tools and solutions to help manage assets, but ultimately human expertise is what people want - and it is what we prioritise at ASAM.
“As a leader and passionate mentor in our sector, I am looking forward to growing the ASAM team and developing the next generation of modern asset management experts in Scotland,” Ewing added.
Founded in 2011, ASAM is part of the wider Anderson Strathern group and works closely with the firm’s legal and private client teams to provide integrated financial planning, investment management and estate planning advice.
