‘Activity wonderland for all ages’ to open this August in huge Scottish shopping centre

“It’s for children, for teens, for adults, and for everyone of all backgrounds and abilities” – Jonathan Doherty

A new indoor park billed as an “activity wonderland for all ages” is set to open within one of Scotland’s largest shopping centres.

SuperPark Glasgow, situated within Frasers Plus Braehead, the recently rebranded Braehead shopping and leisure complex next to Renfrew, plans to open its doors to the public in August.

The 30,000-square-feet “multi activity” indoor park, packed with body powered games, revealed last year that it had chosen Braehead as the location for its first ever UK facility. Part of a global indoor leisure and recreation concept founded in Finland in 2012, SuperPark Glasgow will be located by the restaurant complex within the centre.

SuperPark operates 28 parks across the world, including in Finland, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

SuperPark offers more than 30 interactive and inclusive activities inspired by football, gymnastics, dance and freestyle sports, among others.

Jonathan Doherty, managing director of SuperPark UK, said: “The countdown is on as we build towards sharing this fully inclusive, multi-generational activity park with the people of Glasgow. It’s for children, for teens, for adults, and for everyone of all backgrounds and abilities.”

A hospitality entrepreneur with hotels, cafes and restaurants under his belt, Doherty’s café concept, Scran + Roadie, situated at Saltmarket in Glasgow, will now open a second outlet at SuperPark Glasgow to cover the park’s food and drink offering.

Ashley Bisland, centre director at Frasers Plus Braehead, said: “SuperPark is a fantastic addition to Braehead and we’re incredibly proud that it has chosen the centre as the home of its first UK location.

“Creating memorable days out for our visitors is a key part of our vision at Braehead, and SuperPark is another major step in strengthening our leisure offering alongside our retail and dining experiences.”
