Still Game actor to star with Marti Pellow in Glasgow Christmas musical
The show is a musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol
Still Game star Gavin Mitchell is to take on the role of Jacob Marley opposite music legend Marti Pellow as Scrooge in a musical version of the Charles Dickens classic to be performed in Glasgow this Christmas.
Scrooge the Musical, at Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo, is based on A Christmas Carol.
Mitchell, best known for playing Boaby, the barman, in the popular sitcom, said his “Christmas has come early”.
With book, music and lyrics from legendary composer and lyricist Leslie Bricusse, the new production will be directed by Thom Southerland.

Mitchell said: “My Christmas has come early and I’m very excited to be spending it with Mr P. Scrooge is my favourite Christmas story which remains so relevant and timeless. I think you’re truly going to see something special, spectacular and spooky, like you’ve never seen before.”
Former Wet Wet Wet singer Pellow said: “As soon as I heard Gavin might be involved, I wanted to meet him. We had dinner and immediately got on. We share a lot of the same passions, especially around music and art, which made it feel like a great fit from the outset.
“It was really important to me that we cast someone the Glasgow audience would instantly connect with, and Gavin is exactly that. He’s such a beloved figure in the city, and rightly so. He brings warmth, humour and a real presence to everything he does, and I know he’ll bring both humour and depth to Marley. I’m absolutely over the moon to have him as part of this production, and I’m genuinely excited to start working with him.”

The show will run from December 12, 2026 to January 10, 2027.
It is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, first created by Mr Bricusse for the 1970 film by Ronald Neame. The composer then closely adapted his own work on the film - which starred Albert Finney - for the stage.
The musical premiered at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre in 1992, and has since been produced around the world including West End revivals.
Further production and casting details are to be announced in due course.
