Scotland has a rich musical tradition - from the music hall of Harry Lauder to the progressive hip-hop of Young Fathers.
Arists like Simple Minds, Annie Lennox, Texas and Wet Wet Wet have had a host of top ten hits, while the country is known for its receptive live audiences in iconic venues like Barrowlands and King Tut’s.
Edinburgh band rEDOLENT are one of a host of exciting new bands on the block, recently winning the 13th edition of the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award for their debut record ‘Dinny Greet’.
That got us thinking about the best albums to emerge from Scotland’s music scene, so we asked our readers for their favourites on our Facebook page.
It’s clearly a subject that inspires some passion - with nearly 4,000 people getting involved.
Here are their top 15, with the only rule being that only an artist’s most popular album is included.

13. Teenage Fanclub: Bandwagonesque
Famously one of Kurt Cobain's favourite bands (aling with fellow Bellshill group BMX Bandits), 'Bandwagonesque' was Teenage Fanclub's third album, including fan favourites like 'Star Sign', 'The Concept' anf 'What You Do to Me'. American music magazine Spin crowned it their 1991 album of the year ahead of R.E.M.'s 'Out of Time' and Nirvana's 'Nevermind'. | Contributed

14. The Jesus and Mary Chain: Just Like Honey
The Jesus and Mary Chain's 1985 debut 'Psychocandy' may have only reached number 31 on the UK album charts, but it proved to be massively influential on the alternative rock scene and includes one of their best-known songs 'Just Like Honey'. Further success would come with followup 'Darklands' but it's their first record that is the top choice for Scotsman readers. | Contributed

15. Belle & Sebastian: If You're Feeling Sinister
Belle & Sebastian's second album 'If You're Feeling Sinister' was the first most people had heard of Stuart Murdoch's group - their debut 'Tigermilk' was only available as a vinyl record limited to 1,000 copies. The 1997 record contains many tracks that are still regulars in the band's setlist today, including 'Get Me Away From Here I'm Dying', 'Dylan in the Movies' and 'The Stars of Track and Field'. | Contributed
