It may only be September but thoughts are already turning to next summer’s music festivals, with Primavera and Bearded Theory having already announced their full lineups.
With Glastonbury on a fallow year in 2026 all eyes will be on the other big British music festivals, with Download expected to make a first announcement in the next couple of weeks.
Meanwhile in Scotland the organisers of TRNSMT haven’t even announced dates for the Glasgow festival - keeping fans waiting.
Arguably the biggest event of the year in the UK will be The Reading and Leeds Festivals, which will take place from August 27-30.
Dating back to 1961, when it was known as the National Jazz Festival, the event was first only held in Reading but since 1999 encompasses twin festivals taking place over the same weekend with a near-identical lineup.
The Reading part is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, while the Leeds portion is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby.
Many of the biggest names in music have headlined over the years, including Nirvana, Oasis, Blur, Fall Out Boy, Metallica, The Cure, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys and Pink Floyd.
Here are the 13 acts who are rumoured to be entering the festival’s roll of honour next year.

9. Deftones
Deftones last played Reading and Leeds in 2013 when they were third on the bill on a Main Stage headlined by Green Day and System of a Down. They have a well-received new album in 'Private Music' and have already announced a series of gigs in the UK. Could 2026 be the year when they make the step up to headliners? 10. Twenty One Pilots
If you believed many of the Reading and Leeds online chat forums you'd presume that Twenty One Pilots have already been booked. The Grammy-winning American duo have released two albums in the last two year - 'Clancy' and 'Breach' - so have no shortage of material. They have already been announced as headliners at two German music festivals for 2026 - Southside and Hurricane - so will be on the circuit in Europe over the summer. | Getty Images

11. Sabrina Carpenter
If the Reading and Leeds bookers want to have an all-out pop headliners then there are few bigger names in the world of music at the moment than superstar Sabrina Carpenter. She headlined Primavera last year, but she's got a new album out in the shape of 'Man's Best Friend' and has already confirmed for Coachella 2026 so may skip another solo headline tour in favour of a string of festival slots. | Getty Images

12. Drake
Drake may have come off second best in his beef with Kendrick Lamar but there's no doubt he's still a rapper that's more than capable of headlining any festival on the planet. His ninth studio album, entitled 'Iceman' is out later this year so he'll be looking to tour in 2026. In 2017 he made a surprise appearance at Reading with Giggs, provoking a huge response from the crowd - so he has history with the festival. | Getty Images
