Created by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett in 1998, Gorillaz are a virtual band consisting of four fictional musicians, namely 2-D (vocals, keyboards, melodica), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (guitar, keyboards, backup vocals) and Russel Hobbs (drums).
The band's self-titled 2001 debut album, Gorillaz, was a huge hit thanks in no small part to hit single Clint Eastwood.
Since then there have been a further eight studio albums, most recently this year’s critically-acclaimed The Mountain, earning them a Grammy Award, a BRIT Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, an NME Award, four MTV Europe Music Awards.
This week saw them perform a sold out concert at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
