The film will be screened to mark the 50th anniversary of its release.

Members of the original cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show film are to appear in Edinburgh to appear at a “shadow” screening to mark the 50th anniversary of its release.

Following its sold-out North American tour, the original Brad Majors, played by Barry Bostwick, the original Magenta, Patricia Quinn and the original Columbia, Nell Campbell, will all take part in the event, which will see a shadow cast act out the story in front of the screen.

There will also be a pre-show Q&A, a costume contest and a memorabilia display with film artifacts.

Charlotte Gross, director of audiences at Capital Theatres, said: “We’re really excited to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Festival Theatre in May. It's a special treat for audiences that goes beyond a screening with a costume contest, film memorabilia display and of course a Q&A from original cast members Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn and Nell Campbell.

“We've already seen audiences 'shiver with anticipation' after the announcement on Wednesday and expect an auditorium full of fans enjoying the Time Warp.”

The Rocky Horror Picture Show was written by Richard O'Brien - who also played the supporting role Riff Raff - and Jim Sharman. It is based on O’Brien’s 1973 musical stage production The Rocky Horror Show.

The stage show was performed at the Edinburgh Playhouse last month, when Jason Donovan reprised his role as Frank-N-Furter.

The screening will take place at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre on 3 May.
