Louis Theroux to make 'rare live appearance' in Scottish tour
The documentary maker will visit Edinburgh and Dundee
Documentary maker Louis Theroux is to reflect on his 30 year career in a “rare live appearance” on Scottish stages.
True Stories: An Evening with Louis Theroux will see the celebrated filmmaker speak in Edinburgh and Dundee to reflect on three decades spent documenting some of the most controversial and complex aspects of the human condition.
Best known for his immersive documentaries and distinctive interview style, Mr Theroux has spent his career exploring the lives of people on the fringes of society and inside unusual worlds.

Over two nights in May, Mr Theroux will share behind-the-scenes stories from a career that has taken him face-to-face with some of the planet’s most extreme, controversial and fascinating characters.
The Festival Theatre, which is hosting Mr Theroux’s Edinburgh event, said: “Louis joins us for a rare live appearance at the Festival Theatre, offering audiences the chance to step inside the mind of one of Britain’s most distinctive documentary makers.”
He will be interviewed by former journalist Ryan Crighton, senior partner at True North Advisors, which is launching True Stories, a new spoken-word event series.
Mr Crighton said: “We’re used to seeing successful people in carefully curated environments, but what audiences really connect with are the human stories behind the headlines – the setbacks, the risks, the turning points.
“Louis Theroux is the perfect person to launch this new series. His work has always been about understanding people and uncovering the real stories behind public perception.”
The shows will take place at Caird Hall in Dundee on May 21 and Festival Theatre in Edinburgh on May 22.
