Guinness World record set for 'most slime in a music video' by Scottish musician

Johnny Lynch was submerged in 200 litres of pink slime

A Scottish musician has revealed he had a sinus infection that lasted a week after achieving a Guinness World Record for the most slime in a music video.

Pictish Trail, aka Johnny Lynch, officially set the record during the filming of the video for his song Life Slime, the title track of his new album, in Glasgow in February.

The video, directed by Oscar Sansom and produced by BAFTA-winning Beth Allan, saw Mr Lynch repeatedly drenched in a total of 200 litres of pink slime before eventually submerging himself in a bath of the gloop.

He said: "I've spent over two decades trying to carve out a career in music, and it's deeply reassuring to know that my greatest achievement appears to be having 200 litres of slime poured over my head. After more than six hours of being repeatedly slimed during the filming of the Life Slime video, I developed a sinus infection that lasted a week.

“Receiving a Guinness World Records title makes it all feel worthwhile."

Life Slime is the sixth full-length album by Pictish Trail – a psychedelic electro-pop record shaped by transformation, exhaustion, hope, guilt, and renewal. Written at Mr Lynch’s home on the Isle of Eigg, the album follows 2022’s critically acclaimed Island Family, further refining Lynch’s world of lo-fi electronics, warped pop melodies, baggy psych rhythms and emotionally direct songwriting.

Pictish Trail is to perform at Lost Map Summer Party, a Glasgow Commonwealth Games live show, on 31 July.
