It’s official - Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will open on June 25. Here’s how much it could cost, if it’s coming to PC and what we know so far.

Grand Theft Auto VI will finally be available for pre-order next week after months of speculation and rumours.

The first entry in the Scotland-born franchise in more than a decade, the upcoming title from Rockstar Games is one of the most highly anticipated video games of all time. Initially due to launch last year, fans of the series have frantically been awaiting scraps of news ahead of the title’s slated November launch date.

Now, the pre-order confirmation and cover art reveal comes as a relief to many who were worried about further GTA 6 delays.

It also likely signals the beginning of marketing for the game, which means that years of silence could soon be coming to an end.

When do GTA 6 pre-orders open?

Pre-orders for GTA 6 will begin on Thursday, June 25.

Will GTA 6 be on PC?

Fans will be able to purchase GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S when the pre-orders open.

However, there is no confirmed PC release at this moment in time - which is entirely expected from Rockstar.

When GTA 5 was released back in 2013, it wasn’t for another two years that the game arrived on PC. There is no word on timelines for the PC release of GTA 6 yet, but PC gamers will be hoping that they don’t need to wait that long once again.

Strauss Zelnick - the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take Two Interactive - recently said in an earnings call: “The PC market's a great market, and it's growing for console type titles, and it's market we serve avidly and virtually all of our hit titles end up on all platforms over time.

“That said, Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 for console only so far, and we're excited about our November 19 release.”

When will GTA 6 be released?

The release date for Grand Theft Auto VI remains Thursday, November 19.

How much is GTA 6 going to cost?

Unfortunately, just because we now have pre-order confirmation doesn’t mean we know how much GTA 6 will cost.

Rockstar Games has been keeping its cards close to its chest on the matter, even as debates rage over the likely price tag.

Some reports have speculated that it could be $100 (around £76) or more, however we won’t know for sure until the pre-order window opens.

If Rockstar stick to standard AAA pricing, in the UK the game is likely to cost around £69.99.

With that being said, in the same call Zelnick said that they always want to “deliver to the consumer vastly more entertainment value than what we charge”.

Here, Zelnick referenced Mafia: The Old Country. He said: “...we priced the title at $50 and consumers were thrilled, and we had a massive hit on our hands. I suspect we could have priced at a higher level.”

It is worth noting that the CEO did clarify that his intention wasn’t to “guide” rumours about GTA 6 prices, however his overall thoughts on the matter were that “part of loving something is feeling good about what you pay for”.

He said: “In other words, if you can give people something really great and you can offer it on really favourable economic terms, that's a win-win.”

So while we don’t know how much GTA 6 will cost, fans could end up being pleasantly surprised - or entirely unsurprised. Only time will tell.
