Gilded Balloon inundated with complaints over controversial Amanda Knox show

The show is due to finish on Monday night
An Edinburgh Fringe venue has been inundated with complaints about their decision to host Amanda Knox's Cartwheel show, which finishes on Monday night.
It is understood Gilded Balloon received a large number of emails and phone calls from members of the public angry that the venue was allowing the controversial performance to go ahead.
Ms Knox, who was convicted and later acquitted of the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in 2007.
A petition launched by a friend of the Kercher family claims that the show, which is performed at the Gilded Balloon at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, turns her rape and murder into "entertainment” and called for the show to be cancelled. The petition was backed by Meredith's sister, Stephanie.

Katy Koren, director of Gilded Balloon, which hosted the show at its Teviot venue, said there had been a “lot” of people who had contacted the venue over the show.
She said: “We’ve had a lot of people emailing and calling, but it’s not enough to be considered harassment or anything like that. But we’ve also had calls from a lot of people wanting to see the show, we’ve had calls every day from people wanting to get tickets for it.”
She added: “There hasn’t been enough [complaints] to be concerning.”
The show sold-out shortly after going on sale in May.
The venue has previously defended the decision to run the show, saying it was “in line with the Fringe’s long-standing commitment to freedom of expression within the confines of the law”.
It is believed there were no in-person protests at the venue, which has run 11 performances of the show before it ended on Monday night.
