The first trailer for The Odyssey has arrived online ahead of the new year.

The first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has been released online.

Starring Matt Damon as Greek hero Odysseus, the highly anticipated film spent time shooting in Scotland earlier this year, in locations including Moray.

Written, directed and produced by Nolan, the Greek epic is set for release in UK cinemas on July 17, 2026.

While filming, Damon stayed at the Seafield Arms in Cullen and even enjoying some of Scotland’s tourist attractions in Midlothian, as well as being out and about in Buckie.

With an all star cast including Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal and many more, cinemagoers were given a first look at The Odyssey earlier this year.

The latest trailer is the first to arrive online, showing Odysseus as he and his army become shipwrecked, with glimpses also given of the soldiers inside the Trojan horse. Odysseus’ wife Penelope, played by Hathaway, and his son Telemachus, who is played by Holland, are also briefly seen.

The Odyssey is the first film to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras, and is Nolan’s first film since Oppenheimer was released in 2023.
