Here are the bookies’ favourites for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar when it is presented at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

5. Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor
If the odds are right (which is unlikely - Oscar loves a surprise, particularly in the supporting actor categories) the five-strong shortlist for Best Supporting Actress will be completed by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor for her part in 'The Nickel Boys'. It tells the devastating tale of a Florida reform school where teenage boys were abused and killed. Directed by RaMell Ross, it tells much of the story from the first person perspective of the characters. | Getty Images for Critics Choice

6. Isabella Rossellini
Somewhat amazingly acting legend Isabella Rossellini has never even been nominated for an Oscar, and is priced at 14/1 to win at the first opportunity for her part in 'Conclave'. 7. Selena Gomez
Former Disney child actor Selena Gomez is the second actress in the frame for the supporting role Oscar for crime musical 'Emila Perez'. She's a 16/1 shot to take the gold statuette. | Getty Images for Palm Springs In

8. Saoirse Ronan
Perennial nominee (she's been nominated four times without winning) Saoirse Ronan looks like she'll be left waiting for at least another year for her Oscar. She has odds of 20/1 to win Best Supporting Actress for World War Two drama 'Blitz'. She's also a 14/1 outside bet to win the Best Actress prize for her role in Hebrides-set addiction drama 'The Outrun'. | AFP via Getty Images
