Trailer for eighth and final season of Outlander released – with fans told to expect an 'emotional farewell'
The beginning of the end is almost here, with the official trailer for Outlander season eight promising an emotional journey for Claire and Jamie.
The eighth season of Outlander is just over a month away, with the official trailer teasing the final heart-wrenching journey ahead for its main couple.
Returning as Claire and Jamie one last time, Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan are set to deliver more of the tender romance fans have come to love as the series approaches its conclusion.
As the trailer opens, Claire tells Jamie: “I have everything I never knew I wanted. I hope you’ve had everything you wanted.”
Possibly also a message to the fans, season eight sees the couple arriving at Fraser’s Ridge in hopes of living peacefully, only to find that war has followed them home.
With the dark shadow of war looming over them and a prophecy predicting Jamie’s death, will the Frasers’ once again be able to fight fate?
Inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books, Outlander season eight is, in part, inspired by Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone as well as the tenth and final novel of the series which has yet to be published - though fans shouldn’t expect the same ending.

As well as Balfe and Heughan, the final series also stars Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, John Bell as Young Ian, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.
While it may be the end of the main series, fans can catch up with season one of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the prequel series which follows the couple’s parents. Season two is currently in production.
Outlander Season 8 will begin streaming on MGM+ from Saturday, March 7 with episodes to be released weekly.
