It has now been more than six years since Daniel Craig starred in the last instalment of the lucrative James Bond franchaise, No Time To Die.
It’s looking like 007 will be returning in 2027, with Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve directing and Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight writing the script.
Now it’s just the minor matter of finding the third main part of the jigsaw - the actor (or actress) who will take on the iconic main role and become the world’s most famous spy.
And there can’t be long to go before the biggest casting news of the year (or next year) is confirmed.
It will be a life-changing role for whoever takes it on and becomes only the eighth actor to play 007 following Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.

Since Daniel Craig hung up his tux there have been many different actors rumoured to be in the frame, but all bets were off when Barbara Broccoli and her half brother Michael G. Wilson, who have handpicked the Bond actors since the 1990s, signed over ‘full creative control’ to Amazon MGM Studios.
The bookies now seem to have narrowed it down to 15 most likely possibilities - with six in particular leading the way.
Here’s who they are and how likely it is that they will become the world’s most famous superspy.

13. Jacob Elordi - 20/1
Also priced at 20/1 when it comes to possible James Bonds is Jacob Elordi, currently being highly-praised for his role as at the monster in 'Frankenstein' - the new Guillermo del Toro film that was shot in Scotland. 14. James Norton - 25/1
James Norton has long been in the frame to play Bond, having made his name in the likes of 'Happy Valley', 'Grantchester' and 'McMafia series'. He's still in the running, just about, although his odds have drifted out to 25/1. | Getty Images

15. Aaron Pierre - 25/1
An actor became one of the favourites to play 007 earlier this year, only to see his odds slide in recent months is Aaron Pierre. The English actor found fame in television scifi 'Krypton' and has gone on to star in films such as 'Old', 'Rebel Ridge' and 'Mufasa: The Lion King'. He's now priced at 25/1, having been as low as 5/1. | Getty Images
