Okay, we hear you and we agree – film is subjective. One person’s masterpiece is another’s bargain bin.

5. The English Patient (1996)
This 90s hit was another that our readers described as 'boring'. Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche and Willem Dafoe meant they film had a real A-list class and an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite that, it's going in our list. Photo: Vittorio Zunino Celotto

6. Lost In Translation (2003)
In many ways, you either love Wes Anderson's movies - or you don't. However, 2003's Lost In Translation seemed a hit across the globe, gaining an almost perfect 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. 7. Forrest Gump (1994)

8. La La Land (2016)
The musical cleaned up at the 2017 Oscars, and while I'm a big as fan of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as the next person, I'm inclined to agree that La La Land definitely belongs in this list. Sorry Ryan! Photo: Christopher Polk
