House of the Dragon is transporting viewers to a Westeros where Targaryens and their dragons reign. It may take place 200 years before Game of Thrones, but people are drawing connections between characters on the new show and those who featured in its predecessor.
Though they clearly have their own personalities and motivations, there are characters in House of the Dragon who can be compared to characters in Game of Thrones.
Let’s have a look at some of the cast in House of the Dragon – and their Game of Thrones parallels.

5. Rhaenys and Olenna
Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) has been compared to Lady Olenna Tyrell. Both are bad b*****s who've absolutely had enough of men being in charge. Like Olenna, Rhaenys gives great advice, but she's perhaps not quite as savage as the Queen of Thorns. Photo: HBO

6. Daemon and Jaime
This might be a stretch, but hear me out. Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) has *some* similarities with Jaime Lannister. Both start their series' as villains and, through strong character development, become one of the best loved and most unique characters. That said, Daemon has a much crueller streak than Jaime ever did, so we'll see how his redemption arc unfolds. Photo: HBO

7. Mysaria and Varys
Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) is like a mix between Ros and Varys in Game of Thrones. She starts from nothing and quickly rises to become a powerful and dangerous player in the Dance of Dragons. Like Varys, she builds a vast network of spies. Photo: HBO
