It’s nearly time for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to take over the theatres, gyms, hotels, streets and pubs of Scotland’s Capital.
Taking place from August 7-31 (although there are previews in the days running up to the official launch), there are thousands of shows across hundreds of venues, with comedy making up the largest section of the telephone book-like programme.
While many of the shows are premiering in Edinburgh, others have either been shown elsewhere before or are returning to the Fringe after previous runs were successful.
These include shows that have won major awards, so are less of a gamble to take a punt on.
Here are 10 of them.

9. Splash Test Dummies Circus
The Splash Test Dummies' incredible circus skills in a water-focused hour of family-friendly adventures earned them the Best Children's Presentation at the Adelaide Fringe. You can see them making a splash at the Underbelly's Circus Hub from August 8-29 at 12.05pm. | Contributes

10. ...Earnest?
When the lead actor fails to turn up to a production of 'The Importance of Being Earnest' it's a jumping off point for a thrilling mix of improv and extreme audience participation. Another show that has sold out performances in Edinburgh year after year, it won a Pick of the Fringe Award at the Adelaide Fringe. Avoid the front row (like that'll make any difference) at the Udderbelly from August 6-30 at 3.45pm. | Contributed
