Can you just turn up to the Edinburgh Fringe? What you need to know about tickets

There’s no need to fret if you want to enjoy a day at the Fringe but have yet to book anything.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe will soon launch for 2026, with the city to play host to more than 3,500 shows.
Considering the Fringe will be running at the same time as several other festivals in Edinburgh, the abundance of options can sometimes prove difficult to plan around.
Whether you’re going to be at the festival for a day or hoping to spread the entertainment out across August, here is everything you need to know about Edinburgh Fringe tickets.
Can you just turn up to the Edinburgh Fringe?
To soak up the atmosphere of the Edinburgh Fringe there is no need to book any tickets. With so many shows taking place across the city, you will be able to find something to watch at the last minute - perhaps even something unexpectedly brilliant.
With that being said, all Fringe shows can be booked in advance and there will be a good number already be sold out.
However, all is not lost as there are plenty of shows which you will be able to book or purchase tickets for at the last minute.

Where can I find out more about what shows are on at the Fringe?
If you are looking for shows to watch and are interested in knowing more about each, you can visit the official Edinburgh Fringe website.
For those already in Edinburgh, you can visit the Fringe Box Office at 180 High Street to book tickets in person or find out more about what’s on. Alternatively, you can check out the Fringe “Big Four” venues for alternative ways to book.
In addition, if you are planning on heading into Edinburgh for the festival it is worth downloading the official EdFringe app, which has all of the latest information as well as the “Nearby Now” function which allows you to see which shows will be starting soon.
