Audiences at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe have been treated to shows of all varieties, from comedy to dance.
But with more than 3,000 shows on this year’s programme which have been best so far?
From award favourites like Sarah Keyworth to comedians such as Garry Starr - who has not one, but two 5 star shows - The Scotsman’s reviewers have been out in force since the festival began.
Here are all of the Edinburgh Fringe shows that Scotsman reviewers have given 5-stars, including comedians, musicals, dance and theatre performances.

9. Theatre – Burnout Paradise
A show from Australian five-piece collective Pony Cam, Burnout Paradise sees its cast attempting a variety of everyday tasks while jogging or sprinting on treadmills in a 5-star show our reviewer described as “an hour of magnificently chaotic, breathlessly frenetic fun”. | Contributed

10. Theatre – Weather Girl
Weather Girl is a “breathtakingly intense but beautifully-paced production” about the oncoming climate apocalypse through the lens of Californian weather girl Stacey, played by Julia McDermott, as her journey veers from comic to horrifying. | Michael Wharley/Feast Creative

11. Theatre – Lessons on Revolution
Following performers Sam and Gab, who take audiences between present day and the 1960s, Lessons on Revolution honours leftist radical and former president of the student union at the London School of Economics Marshall Bloom (1944-66). Giving it 5-stars, The Scotsman’s reviewer states that the show lingers with those who have seen it for hours after. | Jack Sain

12. Dance – Sawdust Symphony
According to our 5-star review, “Sawdust Symphony is that rarest of things at the Fringe - a show like no other.” Starring Michael Zandl, David Eisele and Kolja Huneck, three circus school graduates, the trio bring together carpentry and clowning to create a “fascinating, bizarre and, at times, enchanting production”. | Jona Harnischmacher
