Thanks to annual street art festival Nuart, the Granite City has become one of the world’s top destinations for street art.
Alongside cities such as San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney, the Financial Times ranked Aberdeen among the world’s top six locations for street art.
It’s thanks to Nuart Aberdeen, the city’s annual street art festival which first launched in 2017.
Organised by Aberdeen Inspired, in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, Nuart has attracted tens of thousands of visitors to the region, as well as dozens of internationally-acclaimed artists.
Bahia Shehab and Niels Shoe Meulman were among those taking part in the 2024 event, alongside returning talents such as Hera and KMG.
With more than 60 works now located around Aberdeen, from huge murals to playful figures hidden around the city, here are 27 of the best Nuart Aberdeen murals from across the years.

25. Nuart Aberdeen 2023: Jamie Reid
Last, but not least, is British artist and political activist Jamie Reid’s project. Best known for designing album covers for punk band the Sex Pistols, Reid’s Aberdeen mural is appropriately political. From the Queen and King Charles to Donald Trump and Boris Johnson making an appearance, this collage will certainly spark conversation. It can be found on Loch Street, just across the road from the Bon Accord Centre. | Clarke Joss/clarkejossphotography.co.uk

26. Nuart Aberdeen 2021: Helen Bur
Having taken part in the 2019 Nuart festival, Helen Bur’s first Aberdeen murals were removed when the building used as a canvas was destroyed. The London-based artist didn’t let that deter her however, and returned triumphantly for the 2021 festival. Creating a connection to her first project, her second mural also showcases couple Hugo and Ally but this time as a family unit, with Ally breastfeeding newborn baby Ruby-Rae. Painted during World Breastfeeding Week, Bur’s art and narrative portrays stories of love, and is another which can be found on Union Wynd, just across from Union Plaza. | Brian Tallman

27. Nuart Aberdeen 2024: Cbloxx
Cbloxx, a founding member of street art duo Nomad Clan who notably painted the tallest mural in the UK, created this homage to "living heritage" on Loch Street for the 2024 festival. While this work is full of detail, those who look closely will spot that it shares its space with one of Isaac Cordal's tiny figurines installed in 2017. | Scotsman/National World
