I have had the pleasure of working with Danny for years and I count him a personal friend.
I am gutted for Danny at this time as I know of the hard work he has done on behalf of his constituents.

This result is a huge loss not just for Danny but for unionism in this area as Danny was a very capable, honourable, dedicated and respected traditional unionist.
I wish him and his family well and even though it is a sad day for them they must also be encouraged that Danny’s vote increased and he needs to hold his head high that he fought a great election but was eclipsed by the republican campaign.
